Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio during the politically charged Civil Rights era, framed by the toxic fumes of steel mill factories and buoyed by a sea of blue-collar workers. This is where Michael’s early beginnings in soul, funk, rock, jazz, and European classics began by beating rhythms on the hoods of cars, boxes and cans.
Michael’s musical explorations has led to creating concerts with master musicians from Africa, Asia, Cuba, South America and Europe, as well as performing with funk legends George Clinton and the Parliament Funkedelic, The Boys Choir of Harlem, Paul Winter Consort, rock icons Vernon Reid, Henry Rollins, Blondie, and R&B sensations D'Angelo, Angie Stone, Alyson Williams, Dionne Warwick, and Valerie Simpson. Michael has been a featured artist with European orchestras and his own orchestral compositions have been performed by symphonies in the US.
