Caits Meissner is a poly-creative writer, artist and cultural worker based in New York City. She is the editor of the forthcoming book The Sentences That Create Us: Crafting A Writer’s Life in Prison (Haymarket Books, January 2022), and author of the illustrated hybrid poetry book Let It Die Hungry (The Operating System, 2016). Her work has published in The Guardian, The Literary Review, Narrative, Adroit, Drunken Boat, The Rumpus, VIDA Literary Review, The Journal, The Feminist Wire and The Offing, among many others. Caits spends her days as Director of Prison and Justice Writing at PEN America.
